The opening game hosted by Arrowhead high school against Pius XI was a high energy game from the start. Both teams have experience, height and speed, but what would determine the win would be which team would create the opportunity to score. Several Arrowhead players contributed points on the board [sophomore Liz Erdmann (12pts), senior Ally May (12pts) and senior Augy Jepsen (10pts)] but it wasn't enough against Pius' offence. Pius XI point guard Gabby Green ability to penetrate the paint and draw fouls (87%FT) was not to be taken lightly, but if you were in the gym you couldn't help but hear the crowd roar Vashti Nwagbaraocha name after each block.
Final score Arrowhead 47 - Pius XI 52
